CEACAM5 and cancer: Carcinoembryonic antigen (a glycoprotein involved in cell adhesion) is found in low levels in healthy individuals and in high levels in different cancers and also in MPM, but only in some studies, indicating that this protein is not specific to MPM (AUCs ranging from 0.2 to 0.94) [33,35], thus making this less useful as a differential diagnostic marker for MPM.
