Another study using immunohistochemistry (IHC) to compare immune cell infiltration in pediatric tumors showed that although the median number of total CD68+ cells accounted for 10% of total cells in pediatric low-grade glioma (pLGG), pediatric high-grade glioma (pHGG) and DIPG, the number of CD163+ macrophages were 10.4 times and 5.9 times higher than normal tissues in pLGG and pHGG samples, but there was no significant increase in DIPG. This evidence concerns the gene CD68 and diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma.
