Regarding the induction of IL-6-mediated immunosuppression by CAFs, we found support for the “metabolic competition” hypothesis between T-cells and tumor cells, which results in T-cell dysfunction and immunosuppression due to the increased glucose metabolism of tumor cells caused by hypoxia-related signals, which were improved by MR16-1 treatment (Fig. S13).
