In contrast, several studies suggested that NLRP3 inflammasome components were overexpressed in many types of cancer such as gastric cancer, endometrial carcinoma, laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and colorectal cancer demonstrating that NLRP3 inflammasome activation may contribute to the development and progression of these different cancers [35–38]. The gene discussed is NLRP3; the disease is colorectal cancer.
