Imatinib was the first BCR::ABL1 TKI to be used in patients with Ph-positive ALL,initially alone, and then in combination with intensive chemotherapy.8,9 Thecombination of imatinib with Hyper-CVAD (hyperfractionated cyclophosphamide,vincristine, doxorubicin, and dexamethasone, alternating with high-dosemethotrexate and cytarabine) was evaluated in 54 patients (medianage = 51 years) with newly diagnosed or minimally treated Ph-positiveALL.8 The CR rate was 93% and 16 (30%) patients underwentallogeneic SCT in first remission, which translated into a 5-year overallsurvival (OS) of 43%.
