CRP and malaria: Relevant investigations should be requested, especially a complete blood count, blood film for malaria parasites, assay of inflammatory markers such as erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP), chest X-ray, ultrasonography of the neck and/or involved lymph nodes, sputum analysis for acid-fast bacilli, Quantiferon TB Gold, or GeneXpert, and other relevant investigations depending on the differential diagnoses in view.
