We found that both degranulation (CD107a) and IFN-γ production were significantly associated with protection against symptomatic episodes of malaria CD107a [IRR: 0.40; 95% confidence interval (95% CI), 0.22 to 0.71; P = 0.002] and IFN-γ (IRR: 0.61; 95% CI, 0.39 to 0.97; P = 0.038; Table 3). Here, IFNG is linked to malaria.
