A recent review on dietary influences on Apn levels concluded that healthy dietary patterns (including a traditional Mediterranean or a Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension diet) as well as higher dietary intakes of fibre, monounsaturated and omega-3 fatty acids, polyphenols, alcohol, and dairy products are associated with higher Apn levels and that, in contrast, higher intakes of saturated and trans fatty acids, added sugars, and red meat as well as high glycaemic and high-carbohydrate low-fat diets are associated with lower Apn levels [44]. This evidence concerns the gene ANPEP and hypertensive disorder.
