AR and cirrhosis of liver: There are a number of possible explanations for the poor correlation (85) between peripheral hemodynamic criteria (CI, systemic blood pressure, pulse), the propranolol dose and the decrease in portal pressure measured by HVPG: variation in portosystemic shunts, different expression of ß-AR at the different end organs and/or different formation of vasoconstrictors in the respective patients with liver cirrhosis.
