In colorectal cancer, high expression of the UDP glucuronosyltransferase 1A (UGT1A) gene was found to correlate with poor sensitivities to the HSP90 inhibitor ganetespib, and its related compound NVP-AUY922, suggesting UGT1A levels in tumour tissues may be a suitable predictive biomarker for ganetespib treatment (Landmann et al., 2014). The gene discussed is UGT1A1; the disease is colorectal cancer.
