We also hypothesize that restoration of CFTR function by small molecule corrector/potentiator therapies, which restore T2R-mediated NO production in response to bacterial ligands, may enhance the importance of TAS2R polymorphisms in CF patient respiratory infections by enhancing NO production in patients containing PAV TAS2R38 alleles but not AVI/AVI patients. The gene discussed is CFTR; the disease is respiratory tract infectious disorder.
