SIRT1 and steatosis: Figure 6B also shows that the expression of NF-κB increased both in dust-exposed rats and dust-exposed plus IR injury rats. As mentioned above, SIRT1 suppresses NF-κB. The current results showed that lower expression of SIRT1 was concomitant with higher expression of NF-κB (Figure 6A). Thus, dust and IR injury with decreasing SIRT1 resulted in the over-expression of NF-κB, which, in turn, mediates inflammation and steatosis. p-CA with inversing the events effectively controlled inflammation induced by dust and IR injury (Figure 6B).
