First of all, vit A is known for its immune-modulatory effect in autoimmune disorders, notably MS (11); in an in vitro study on the MS patient-derived B cells, RA-treated cells showed enhanced secretion of interleukin10 (IL10, an anti-inflammatory cytokine) (23) as well in another in vitro study ATRA administration suppressed interleukin17 (IL17) gene expression (24). The gene discussed is IL17A; the disease is autoimmune disease.
