Interestingly, we found a possible functional link for gal3 to AD since (1) TD139 prevents Aβ42-induced degradation of gamma oscillations ex vivo and (2) gamma oscillations are impaired in the hippocampal CA3 area of the 5×FAD mouse model at 6 months of age while gamma oscillations recorded from 5×FAD mice lacking gal3 (5×FAD-Gal3KO) remain similar to age-matched WT counterparts. This evidence concerns the gene LGALS3 and Alzheimer disease.
