Ornithine decarboxylase 1 (ODC1), the mutations of which were concentrated in our research the most (Figure 2B), is now frequently increased in cancer cells (Choi et al., 2016) and necessary for cell proliferation, transforms ornithine into putrescine, and is associated with cellular mechanisms that lead to an increase in polyamine metabolites (Miller-Fleming et al., 2015). The gene discussed is ODC1; the disease is cancer.
