Since glucocorticoids have been shown to suppress metabolic pathways such as glycolysis in CD8+ T cells and then reduce the anti-tumor effect of CD8+ T cells [17], the present findings provide further evidence that endogenously released glucocorticoids by the concomitant activation of CRHPVN neurons could inhibit the recruitment of CD8+ T cells into tumor tissues as well as the induction of dysfunctional effector lymphocytes.
