Concerning PCOS etiology, an increase in the frequency and amplitude of pulsatile gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) release from hypothalamus, which in turn stimulates luteinizing hormone (LH) secretion from the pituitary gland, is known to induce hyperandrogenism and arrest follicle development in the pre-ovulatory stage6,7. Here, GNRH1 is linked to polycystic ovary syndrome.
