We therefore determined if the elevated FKBP5 gex levels in BA11 superficial layer neurons in schizophrenia (Cohort 5, snRNAseq gex) correlated with changes in dendritic spine architecture in the same subjects with Golgi–Cox staining and quantification of mushroom, stubby, filopodia and thin dendritic spine subtypes (Fig. 6a–c). This evidence concerns the gene FKBP5 and schizophrenia.
