Mechanistically, the surface protein of P. anaerobius, putative cell wall binding repeat 2 (PCWBR2), could directly combine with CRC cells via its receptor α2/β1 integrin, which instigated the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt) pathway via phosphor-focal adhesion kinase. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and colorectal carcinoma.
