Besides the known DC-SIGN, three novel factors, cholesterol-binding protein PROM2 (Prominin 2; Florek et al., 2007), ATPase CARNS1 (ATPGD1, Carnosine Synthase 1; Drozak et al., 2010), and FAM193A (Family With Sequence Similarity 193 Member A) with no clear biological functions, also significantly enhanced the virus infection (Fig. 1B). This evidence concerns the gene PROM2 and viral infectious disease.
