Imbalance of β-catenin has been reported to contribute to cervical cancer (Perez-Plasencia et al., 2008) and IKKβ phosphorylation of β-catenin leads to its ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal-mediated degradation resulting in impaired Wnt signaling and cell adhesive properties (Lamberti et al., 2001).
