Our analyses of immune cell recruitment in vivo during the course of C. albicans infection of FAM21-cKO mice revealed fewer neutrophils and macrophages at the infection site at day 1 p.i., and fewer B and T cells at day 3 p.i. Reconstituting FAM21-cKO mice with WT CD11c+ BMDCs rescued the cKO mice from death caused by C. albicans infection, supporting that FAM21 is important for TLR2/CLEC4E-mediated signaling in CD11c+ dendritic cells for host protection against C. albicans. Here, ITGAX is linked to infection.
