Malaria and dengue coinfections showed a significant increase in proinflammatory cytokines such as IFN-γ, IL-1, IL-6, and IL-12; Th2 cytokines such as IL-4; anti-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-10 and IL-13; and Th17 cytokines such as IL-17. This evidence concerns the gene IL4 and malaria.
