Subgroup analysis of coinfection types revealed the following effects: IFN-γ, CXCL8, and IL-4 levels were increased in malaria and other parasite coinfections compared to malaria monoinfection (MD: 6.00 pg/mL, 95% CI: 5.54–6.46 pg/mL; MD: 1662 pg/mL, 95% CI: 1555.68–1768.32 pg/mL; MD: 10 pg/mL, 95% CI: 7.43–12.57 pg/mL, respectively), but IL-6 levels were decreased in malaria and other parasite coinfections (MD: −103.60 pg/mL, 95% CI: −193.71–(−13.49) pg/mL). This evidence concerns the gene IL4 and malaria.
