It is interesting to note that during the progression of AD, microglial pyroptosis encourages the formation of the ASC-Aβ Complex, which not only exacerbate Aβ formation of oligomers and aggregates, but also caused the formation of the NLRP3 inflammasome, caspase-1 activation, IL-1β maturation and GSDMD cleavage, and promoted pyroptosis in nearby microglia (Heneka et al., 2018; Luciunaite et al., 2020).
