GPT and steatosis: Not surprisingly, patients with more advanced steatosis had higher fasting serum triglyceride (192.6 ± 157.1 mg/dL vs. 122.5 ± 57.4 mg/dL), HbA1c (6.7% ± 1.4% vs. 6.1% ± 0.8%), aspartate aminotransferase (28.4 ± 13.2 IU/L vs. 21.1 ± 6.5 IU/L), and alanine aminotransferase (43.0 ± 23.1 IU/L vs. 28.0 ± 15.8 IU/L) as compared to those with lower levels of steatosis [Table 1].
