Thyroid hormones are among the main factors involved in the regulation of energy expenditure (Reinehr, 2010; Mullur et al., 2014) and thyroid dysfunctions are responsible of significant changes in body weight in dogs, with hypothyroidism being usually associated with weight gain, reduced thermogenesis and metabolic rate (Scott-Moncrieff, 2015a,b). Here, TG is linked to hypothyroidism.
