There were nine DMEGs were lower expressed in CLL patients, with DNA hypermethylated in the promoter region and hypomethylated in gene body regions, including MACROD2, ADAMTS17, TJP1, MET, OSBPL1A, SYN2, KCNG2, AGBL4, and ME3. Among these genes, ADAMTS17 was also reported to be hypermethylated and transcriptionally silenced in CLL (Barrow et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene AGBL4 and B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
