The single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) strongly related to the accumulation of triglyceride and inflammation in liver disease, i.e., rs738409 C>G polymorphism in patatin‐like phospholipase domain containing 3 (PNPLA3), rs58542926 C>T variant in transmembrane 6 superfamily member 2 (TM6SF2), and rs641738C>T in membrane-bound O-acyltransferase domain-containing 7 (MBOAT7) were the most robust and well-replicated locus (Eslam et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene MBOAT7 and liver disorder.
