Using immunoblotting as a semi-quantitative method for EV protein levels, levels of three mitochondrial specific proteins, adenosine triphosphate 5A (ATP5A; complex V), nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide reduced form (NADH): ubiquinone oxidoreductase subunit S3 (NDUFS3; complex I), and succinate dehydrogenase complex iron sulfur subunit B (SDHB; complex II), were lower in individuals with frailty and sarcopenia (n = 11) compared to individuals without sarcopenia and frailty (n = 10) [35]. The gene discussed is SDHB; the disease is sarcopenia.
