Despite the fact that there were no appreciable differences in survival between HCC patients with or without mutations (Additional file 1: Fig. S1A, B), the poor prognosis of HCC patients was substantially associated with mutations of the 20 RNA methylated modification writers (FTSJ2, FTSJ3, FTSJD1, HENMT1, KIAA1429, METTL2A, METTL2B, METTL8, METTL14, NSUN2, NSUN3, NSUN4, NSUN5, NSUN6, NSUN7, RBM15, TRDMT1, TRMT6, TRMT44, and TRMT61B; Additional file 1: Fig. S1C, P < 0.05). This evidence concerns the gene TRMT44 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
