Application of 50 μM concentration of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 resulted in 80% cell growth inhibition observed, while DHA inhibited breast cancer proliferation in vitro mainly by blocking the Cox-2-PGE2-NF-κB cascade to achieve inhibition of MMP-2 and MMP-9 transcription (152).
