Hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF1), an oxygen homeostasis regulator, has been validated to play a role in glucose metabolism and mitochondrial respiration (Peek et al., 2017), which could also be activated by the tissue hypoxia, showing the potential as an intriguing factor to mediate the relationship between metabolic energy disorder and HF (Fillmore, Mori & Lopaschuk, 2014; Warbrick & Rabkin, 2019). The gene discussed is HIF1A; the disease is hydrops fetalis.
