Li et al. (2019) showed that PD-L1 expression in tumor cells was significantly associated with poor prognostic outcomes in CRC patients. To determine the effect of immunogenicity on tumor progression, we increased the probability of PD-L1-like genes acquisition, i.e. tum_pdlp_rate, from 1- to 16-fold from the default value (see Supplementary Figs S23–S30). In accordance with Li et al., the increasing probability of expressing PD-L1-like genes resulted in higher rate of tumor-cell survival. The gene discussed is CD274; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
