Abnormalities in the SCF/C-kit signalling pathway can trigger specific expression of genes that regulate ICC proliferation, differentiation and development in the gastrointestinal tract, leading to abnormal slow-wave rhythms that reduce smooth muscle motility and slow down the dynamics of the gastrointestinal tract, thereby inducing gastrointestinal motility dysfunction-related diseases such as FD (Chai et al., 2017). The gene discussed is KIT; the disease is Fabry disease.
