In a routine blood test, patients with CHF had a combination of higher white blood count (WBC) (7.68 ± 0.09 vs. 7.31 ± 0.03, P < 0.0001) and neutrophilic granulocyte (Neu) (4.76 ± 0.06 vs. 4.37 ± 0.02, P < 0.0001), and lower hemoglobin (Hb) (13.80 ± 0.08 vs. 14.23 ± 0.03, P < 0.0001) and platelets (Plt, 231.23 ± 3.24 vs. 249.50 ± 0.98, P < 0.0001). The gene discussed is GSTM1; the disease is congestive heart failure.
