Celiac disease (CeD) is an autoimmune-like disorder mediated by CD4+ T cell response to deamidated gluten peptides that are selectively presented by disease-predisposing human leukocyte antigen (HLA) molecules (HLA-DQ2.5, HLA-DQ2.2, and HLA-DQ8) (1). This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and celiac disease.
