Since CPT1C upregulates ABHD6 activity when malonyl-CoA levels decrease [17], we postulate that 2-araquidonoylglycerol (2-AG) and bis(monoacylglycero)phosphate (BMP) levels will decrease with nutrient scarcity, resulting in enhanced mitochondrial function and the endolysosomal-mediated lipid transport changes necessary for the metabolic adaptation of cancer cells (Fig. 5).
