Murine haploinsuficiency of ADAMTS1, a desintegrin and metallopeptidase with described angiogenic-related functions causes thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissections similar to Marfan syndrome [64], while silencing of the poorly investigated small hydrophobic membrane-associated protein EMP1 inhibis cancer cell proliferation, migration, and affects VEGF-C expression in nasopharyngeal cancer, reducing angiogenesis [65, 66]. The gene discussed is EMP1; the disease is Marfan syndrome.
