S100A10 and cancer: Many of the detected marker genes are known to be involved in mechanisms enhancing the aggressiveness of cancer cells, such as epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) (EFHD2, ATP1A1 [29], PRSS8 [30]), invasion (S100A10 [30]), migration (S100A10, EPCAM [31]), poor prognosis (TIMP1 [32], EEF1A1 [33]) and glycolysis (ALDH1B1, LDHA) (Fig. 2h).
