ApoC-III has been recently considered an important player in the insulin resistance mechanisms and the development of dyslipidemia in type 2 diabetes (T2DM) [56]: ApoC-III levels were linked to pancreatic islet insulin resistance and β-cell dysfunction [56] mostly due to the progressive inflammation and induction of β-cell apoptosis and decline. This evidence concerns the gene APOC3 and metabolic syndrome.
