In fact, dysfunction of AQP4 have been implicated in the pathogenesis of many degenerative disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD), vascular cognitive impairment, idiopathic normal-pressure hydrocephalus, Parkinson’s disease dementia, frontotemporal dementia and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (Zeppenfeld et al., 2017; Nedergaard and Goldman, 2020; Silva et al., 2021; Wang et al., 2022). Here, AQP4 is linked to Alzheimer disease.
