As miRNAs are potent influencers of EMT processes as well, the presence of exosomal miRNAs targeting the EMT-related genes CDH1 (encoding E-cadherin), VIM, TWIST1 and SNAI1/2 (representing SLUG and SNAIL, respectively) was analyzed in treatment-naïve exosomes from HNSCC patients. This evidence concerns the gene VIM and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
