Reports related to PAPSS2 and cancer have preliminarily suggested the research value of PAPSS2. Evidence suggests that high expression of PAPSS2 was linked to decreased prevalence of human colitis and colon cancer, with PAPSS2 protecting against colitis and associated colonic carcinogenesis over intestinal sulfomucin and furtherance of bile acid homeostasis by way of the PAPSS2–PAPS–sulfation axis (Xu et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene PAPSS2 and colitis.
