B4GALNT2 and infection: We chose to perform infections with the new Morganella morganii subspecies (Morg 2, 4, 5, 6), based on (i) its abundance – the new subspecies represent 4/6 isolated bacteria, and is thus likely to be more abundant in the intestinal microbiota than the two other strains – and (ii) its annotation profile, as it has the potential to be more pathogenic than Morg 1 and 3 and is predicted to have the ability to utilize B4galnt2-specific glycan residues.
