IFNG and congenital rubella syndrome: Two types of CRS can be distinguished: eosinophilic CRS with polyps, where interleukins IL-5 and IL-33 are mainly associated to inflammation, and non-eosinophilic CRS (without polyps), characterized by the presence of interferon gamma (IFN-γ), and the interleukins IL-17A, IL-1β and IL-8.
