Recent studies suggest that ellagic acid, ACYs and their derivatives might regulate the molecular mechanisms of the liver to work against high-fat diet-induced obesity by diminishing the expression of the hepatic molecular factors SREBP-1c and PPARγ, which are involved in the storage of fat and TGs [35,36,37]. The gene discussed is PPARG; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
