Interestingly, rare fusions included some involving RET and NTRK3 that had only been described previously in single-case studies of patients exposed to radiation from the Fukushima nuclear disaster (SQSTM1/NTRK3; AFAP1L2/RET) [71] or atomic bomb fallout (ACBD5/RET) [72], and in a single case of salivary gland carcinoma (VIM/RET) [73]. The gene discussed is RET; the disease is salivary gland carcinoma.
