Currently, intravitreal injections of anti-VEGF agents, ranibizumab (Lucentis®, Novartis Pharma AG, Basel, Switzerland) and aflibercept (Eylea®, Bayer, Barmen, Germany), are considered the standard of care for treating nAMD [3,4,5], and act by reducing the macular edema caused by the neovascular membrane. Here, VEGFA is linked to macular retinal edema.
