Johnson et al. [29] proposed the ALBI grade in 2015, which used a different liver-dysfunction-assessment model to better select HCC patients receiving sorafenib and only involved the serum albumin and bilirubin levels from 1313 patients in Japan initially, and subsequently validated the results in 5097 patients in six cohorts from other geographic regions. This evidence concerns the gene ALB and hepatocellular carcinoma.
