In addition, geranylated flavonoids isolated from P. tomentosa fruits (6-geranyl-3,3′,5,5′,7-pentahydroxy-4′-methoxyflavane, diplacone, and 6-geranyl-3′,5,5′,7-tetrahydroxy-4′-methoxyflavanone) were able to mitigate the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease by inhibiting the activity of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), resulting in increased concentrations of acetylcholine and butyrylcholine in the synapses. Here, BCHE is linked to Alzheimer disease.
