CRP and Epstein-Barr virus infection: Figure 2 shows that all the markers measured of EBV infection: VCA-IgG (R = 0.302, p < 0.001), EBNA1-IgG (R = 0.244, p = 0.011), and EA-IgG (R = 0.345, p = 0.011) had a positive correlation with the hepcidin concentration. We did not see significant correlations between EBV antibodies and CRP and AGP. The only other positive correlation was between AGP and hepcidin (R = 0.188, p = 0.047; not shown).
